A shared kitchen.
FoodDB is free to browse and use. Optional tips support the person maintaining it and do not unlock paid features.
Your private kitchen
Create a FoodDB account to save recipe collections, shopping lists, and a cooking journal. Those records are private to your account. We store them so they remain available when you return.
What becomes public
Reviews and your own recipes for existing meals appear immediately with the display name you provide. Do not include private contact details. You can remove your contributions from the meal page. Newly submitted meals are visible only to you and the curator until approved.
Keep it useful and kind
Share your own writing and photos, or content you have permission to publish. Credit sources. No spam, harassment, impersonation, or misleading claims. Report a contribution from its meal page; the curator can hide it. Reports and their reasons are not displayed publicly.
Data and services
FoodDB stores your account identifier with saved lists, journal entries, submissions, and contributions. Your login username is private. Passwords are stored as salted hashes. A private session cookie keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. Save your recovery code to reset a forgotten password; we do not collect an email address. Images hosted elsewhere are loaded from their original hosts. Optional support links take you to the payment provider, which handles payment details; FoodDB does not collect card information.
Recipe sources
The starting meal and ingredient catalog comes from TheMealDB. Original recipe links and contributor credits are retained where provided. Rights in third-party recipes and images remain with their respective owners.
